Catch me if you can

by Sólbjört Vera

Verkið Catch me if you can sýnir þrjár persónur fara saman í stríðnislegan eltingaleik þar sem umgjörðin er óræð og markmiðið óljóst.  Í verkinu gerir listamaðurinn tilraun til að lýsa sambandi sínu við fótbolta sem manneskja fyrir utan þennan sérstaka menningarheim íþróttarinnar. Listamaðurinn fer í hlutverk leikstjóra og leiklýsanda sem lýsir þessum undarlega leik með ákafa og absúrdisma.

The work Catch me if you can shows three characters playing a tantalizing game of chase in an obscure setting and with an indistinct goal. In this work the artist makes an attempt to describe her own relationship with football as a person standing outside of this bizarre sport culture. The artist takes on the role of director and game commentator who describes the game with intensity and absurdism.

Sólbjört Vera Ómarsdóttir (f.1993) tekst á við minningar, hversdagslegar uppákomur og innri átök manneskjunnar í verkum sínum. Hún rannsakar þessi viðfangsefni á húmorískan og tilfinningalegan hátt og undirstrikar þannig þá angurværð sem fylgir því að fylgjast með tímanum líða, skilja við atburði lífsins, horfa á eftir þeim inn í fortíðina, muna eftir þeim og gleyma. Sólbjört útskrifaðist úr myndlistardeild Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2020.

In her work, Sólbjört Vera Ómarsdóttir (b.1993) deals with memories, everyday incidents and the constant conflict of existence. She investigates these subjects in a humorous and emotional way and underlines the bitter-sweetness of watching time go by, parting with life events, leaving them in the past, remembering them and forgetting them. Sólbjört graduated from the Fine Art department from The Iceland University of the Arts in 2020.
